Ever wanted to snag one of the sims you see in my legacy or other sims ramblings? For the most part, my sims live at LL30 Sims, but I will be posting legacy offspring, etc, here. I'm hoping to avoid duplication, so if you don't see the sim you want here, check my profile at LL30 Sims or make a request.

LL30 Asylum dwellers will NOT be offered for download, except the children. You will soon be able to find them in Toddlerpalooza on LL30 Sims. Well, I did make Clarissa and she's available at my profile over there.

These will wear your default skintones, but come (sometimes) packaged with outfits, hair, makeup and eyes. Each rar contains a Sims2Pack containing sim and CC plus any pictures you see in this post to make it easy for you to identify them and their CC.

* Jumps on bandwagon*

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In August I donated bone marrow to [info]katu in a life-saving procedure (300 points). Last week I ate my brussel sprouts (1 points). In November I helped [info]fantasyrogue hide a body (-173 points). Last Thursday I pulled over and changed [info]brilliantcat's flat tire (15 points). Last month on a flight to LA, I stole the emergency flight information card (-40 points).

Overall, I've been nice (103 points). For Christmas I deserve a new bike!

Sincerely,

Take a look here

I haven't read the review (too tired, letters swimming on screen) so I have no idea what they say. Keep in mind that they had access to the beta.

CAW is supposed to come out some time this month. They don't have long to actually release it!

I updated my Firefox today and all I can say is DON'T!!! It is extremely unstable and I cannot load more than 1 or 2 pages without getting an error on the second or third page. Took me a couple of tries to load the POGs update because it kept timing out. This is pretty much an across the board problem. Once I have LJ open, I cannot open a second tab with Facebook or any other site. This was why the POGs didn't work. I tried to open the update in a second tab and it kept failing. I had to shut down Firefox then restart it, then open it in the same tab rather than sending it to a new tab.

So if one of your add-ons says you need to update FF in order to get the add-on update, for the love of Pete don't do it.

I'm playing Bob and Betty Newbie, trying to get some pictures for the next Going For Broke update. As you all know, to achieve most of the beginning of the "saga" I need to use Awesomemod because that's the only way I can freeze the rest of the town while I wait for Brandi to be born and grow to child so that Skip doesn't end up being a bajillion years older than her or move out.

Anyway, seems that for some reason AM has decided that Bob has unsavoury sexual appetites. Basically, Pescado decided that since he doesn't like teen-adult romance he will introduce a "punishment" for those who engage in teen-adult shenanigans. I do not have the adult-teen romance option turned on, yet Bob is being treated as a pedo bear and cannot shop for food!!!!! He never engaged in any romantic interactions with anyone but Betty FFS!!! And from reading an old thread on this issue, it's pretty much irreversible unless I take out AM. Which I still need for a while.

*Insert expletive here*

ETA: Pescado is going to have a look at my game save and look into it. After reading a bit more about it, seems the pedo bear traits stops sims from getting jobs, not just from using the grocery store. Anyway, hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to [info]simgaroop. The Christmas card from you arrived today! I love it and the kids love it, too. My 4 year old son was super excited to see it, shouting "Look, mum! It's so cool! Look! Look! It's so cute!"

The teenage girls in the official Facebook Sims 3 group want a Twilight EP.

Just think about it! You could have Bella and all the Cullens and Jacob. And the game developers would build Forks for you because you suck at house building. And the sheep on the Exchange have failed to create a satisfactory Edward and Bella so it would be cool if the developers could make them.

There are no ideas for what would be in the EP beyond RPatz and Kristen Stewart. But wouldn't it be cool??? Come on! You know you want it!!!

In the last few days I haven't been receiving notifications when people comment on my posts so I've been checking in to see what's happening and replying to everyone's comments. I get some notifications, most of the time 24 to 36 hours later, but it's not even for all the comments that people have made.

I don't know if this is an across-the-board problem for everyone or whether it's just my or maybe a few people's accounts that are affected. I also have no idea if you guys are getting notifications that I replied to your comments. Rest assured that I have read all the comments everyone has made on my last few posts and have made the effort to reply to everyone.

If anyone made a comment or a request (for CC or WCIF) in an older thread, you may want to PM me to draw my attention to it. I try to make the effort to reply to most comments but right now, I'm just not receiving notifications and it's impossible for me to go through all the posts on this journal and check each and every one for new comments.

I will go through my LJ message inbox to see if there is anything I missed. I do apologise if I have missed replying to anyone but if I don't know that someone commented, I simply cannot reply.

Poor Julie! Last time we checked in with her, she was pretty much feeling in the dumps. Her man had left her and she had no money and a baby to care for.

But sim life does go on!

OK, so I'm continuing to try my hand at this whole Sims 3 thing and OMG I suck at keeping my sims happy.

On the other hand, I am very good at creating lots and lots of doom and gloom.

Maybe I should start a new legacy, called The Sucky Life and Destruction of Julie Morgan?

Everyone is posting their pictures so I figured I might as well "Baaa!" and join in!

I have no gifts and no Christmas theme. Sorry, guys! I wasn't organised enough to do an Advent Calendar. I would do the 12 Days Of Christmas but my MIL and SIL are actually going to be here from Dec 23 to Jan 5, which pretty much rules that out. So you just get a bunch of pictures.

Anyway, meet Julie Morgan. I can't remember her stats because I'm not good at remembering that sort of stuff. She's Artistic and a Bookworm and... a Great Kisser, I think. And a couple of others. She likes... stuff!

OK, I sorted out the problem with the sim's eyes not picking up my new defaults.

If you swap or put in for the first time any defaults and you play Riverview delete the entire foldercalled World Caches out of your My Documents folder tree. It is not enough to delete compositorCache.package to make your new defaults work in Riverview. You MUST ALSO delete the world cache for that hood. It will regenerate like any other cache. This is why one of the sims I was given for testing was showing the old defaults. Because she came with all base game content the game did not regenerate her when she went into the game so she showed up with the old defaults. So delete your World Caches if you play Riverview and have new default replacements, kids!

Re: the WA wall that came with the second version of the house. It actually DID install into my game. When looking at the walls I had a complete brain fart and forgot about patterns. I now have FOUR tile patterns with the Egyptian motif on them. I'm 99.99999% sure I didn't have those before. I'm actually curious to know what will happen when I install WA at Christmas. I think I might delete them just to be on the safe side.

Re: couches. I checked and the house with the WA wall pattern also had a second couch. The couch got substituted for a base game couch. I took a picture but it's late and I'm tired so I cannot be bothered to post the picture.

TO SUMMARISE:

At this stage, it seems that putting WA patterns into a house will transfer those patterns into the base game without causing major borkage or patterns substitution.

Sims and houses packaged in WA install and work fine in the base game.

The game will substitute content where necessary, with the exception of patterns used in build/buy mode, as noted above.

Sims don't seem to come with the WA patterns as the sim's shirt was stripped of all patterns (she was packaged with some sort of blue sleeves but I got her in a totally white shirt).

Still need to test what the game will do when a totally new ITEM rather than pattern or substitutable object is put into a house. I suspect that it will also be substituted, ie. a scooter will become a car or bike or totally disappear. So I renew my appeal for someone to send me a house with a scooter or one of those karate stick trees or other not easily substituted items in it. If we can rule out one of those crashing the game, I think we can then safely say that this time around EP houses and sims are safe to share with whoever. But I think that is the last thing we need to test to be 100% sure.

Hi guys!

Yet again, it was time for me to risk life, limb and game for you so [info]beatdoc16 and I could test compatibility of sims and houses transferred between World Adventures and the TS3 base game. My base game is fully patched to the newest patch, whatever the version number is currently on 4th Dec '09, so any results below should take that into account. For example, if my game were not patched the result may have been a game crash when a house with a basement was installed. But the latest patch allows for houses with basements in the base game so the patch could be the reason behind the positive results.

Teh rezultz:

1. WA-packaged sim and house with base game content imported into base game. Both came to me as Sims3Pack files.

I use the Launcher to put content into my game, so I have no idea what result you would get with the custom installer from MTS or Simlogical or wherever it is.

Sim - complete success. No warnings of any sort. The sim came with [info]beatdoc16's default eyes. I would probably not have noticed this had I not recently switched defaults so I have different ones than she does. We used to have the same default eyes. Anyway, I don't know what the result would have been had the sim come as a .sim file and not a Sims3Pack, whether my defaults or [info]beatdoc16's would have been showing. Also, as I did not keep playing the sim beyond placing her on a lot and getting her to read a book, I have no idea what the genetic implications would be of the sim coming across with the custom eye textures. Since there are no truly custom eyes in this game, it's possible that the game would have ignored the custom texture or it could be that the sim may have had kids with the custom eye texture. When I get a bit more time to muck around with the game I might play this sim a bit and get her knocked up and popping out some kids to take a look at their eye genetics.

House - no problem, no warnings, seemed to function fine.

2. WA-packaged sim and house with WA content imported into base game. Both came to me as Sims3Pack files; installed using the Launcher.

The launcher gave me the good old triangular sign with an exclamation mark in it in the Status box. I decided to brave it and selected to install both. And both installed without problem.

Sim - got stripped of WA content. I'm not sure how much WA content she was wearing, but I'm pretty sure she ended up with totally different hair and clothes than in the thumbnail. Also, unlike her twin with no WA content, she was showing my default eye textures and not [info]beatdoc16's. No errors, etc, only the warning sign in the Launcher prior to successful installation. I only placed her on a lot so I have no idea whether they would be weirdness if I kept playing her, but she placed fine and perfomed basic functions such as reading a book without problems.

House - did NOT get stripped of WA content. The house came to me with a WA wall which was not located anywhere in my build catalogue. So at least walls transfer across with the house. I'm not sure if [info]beatdoc16 included any other content but she had pre-warned me about the wall being included so I looked for it. It was there. Proof:

I later looked and the wall did not install into my game. It is not in the build catalogue but only exists in this version of the house. I did not try using the eyedropper to recolour other walls using the pattern. I suspect that, like the custom sliders, I would lose the wall. Or possibly crash.

I am quite happy to continue testing so if anyone would like to send me a house with a WA floor and another one that includes a specific piece of WA furniture I would be more than happy to install them and test them. Can I have one with a bed and a separate one with something quite specific like an Egyptian statue or the scooter from the transport category? ie. one that is easily substituted by the game and one that is more tricky, such as a scooter. And can I have a picture of the bed/statue/whatever so I know what I'm looking for? I don't play the game often enough to recognise whether a particular bed came with the base game or is EP-specific. I only know the basic base game iron bed, but none of the others. My sims tend to be dirt poor for a long time. LOL

I will continue to test this house but for now, I declare both sim and house transfer from WA to base game a resounding success and safe! Unless some of the buy mode stuff causes problems. But just putting in EP-specific walls and hair/clothing made no difference. The patched base game coped with them just fine.

Cross-posted to DW and LJ.

As some of you may have noticed in the main Sims 2 comm on LJ, I'm having what's turning out to be major problems with my TS2 game. There appears to be some corruption to core game files so I am going to have to uninstall and re-install. Because my motherboard is also throwing IRQ errors and occasionally giving me the BSOD, I don't know if I will be able to re-install once I uninstall.

I have played through about 3 or 4 days of the next week of the Hallows. Not enough for a full update but it's enough to post SOMETHING. It's been slow going due to the heat we've been experiencing so I haven't been able to play every day like I had been planning. What I will do today is grow up the Hallows kids using cheats. I already extracted all 4 of them before my game corrupted so there are no worries with that - I have the files necessary for them to be passed on and they are fine and unaffected by anything happening right now. This morning I made a backup of the Hallows hood so if I am able to re-install, I can keep playing and pretend like the forced growing up never happened. If I can't re-install, then at least we have some sort of conclusion to the generation.

This means that my status with regard to the Landon round robin and my joint legacy with Nadsy (on LJ) at the moment is "uncertain". I know I could have just uninstalled and tried to re-install and thrown my hands up in the air if unsuccessful and said "oopsies" without clogging up your friends and reading lists, but I thought I'd post about it since any disasters my PC is experiencing at the moment affect quite a few people due to me being in so many joint projects.
